My Journey to Building Ticket Spot

How listening to event organizers led to creating a platform that puts them first

I've always believed that the best products come from listening—really listening—to the people who use them. Ticket Spot is the result of more than a decade of doing exactly that.

I began my career after earning my degree in Software Engineering, joining a company that built call-center software. It gave me a solid technical foundation, but I knew I wanted to be closer to the center of innovation. So I made the leap to Silicon Valley.

In San Francisco and San Jose, I threw myself into every hackathon and meetup I could find. I spent nights building experimental apps, talking with founders, and learning from everyone around me. The energy of the Bay Area became fuel for everything I built afterward.

One of the turning points came at a Wix hackathon, which happened right as they launched their app store. Our team built an event app, but what fascinated me most was the potential of integrating with the Eventbrite API. Eventbrite dominated the tech scene back then, and I could see how much organizers relied on it—and how limited some of the offerings were.

Over the next six months, I built my own event app and launched it on the Wix App Market. Suddenly I had real users, real customers, and a steady stream of feedback. I became a "yes-man" in the best way possible—if a request made sense and would help event organizers, I built it.

Early on, I added Google Calendar and Zoom integrations. I built a level of customization that didn't exist anywhere else: hide or show any component, change any labels, translate the entire interface into any language, change layouts, and fully shape the event experience however customers wanted. People loved that flexibility. It became clear that customization and control were core to what organizers actually needed.

As more customers joined, I built integrations with TicketTailor, TicketSpice, RegFox, and others. I even spoke directly with those founders as they explored entering the Wix ecosystem. It was during those conversations that I realized something important: these companies were making enormous revenue from transaction fees, and yet many customers still struggled with branding limitations, fees, communication tools, and customization.

So I took everything I learned—the frustrations, the gaps, the opportunities—and built my own full event + ticketing platform. A platform that didn't take a cut of organizers' revenue. A platform that gave them full control. A platform built with the flexibility and customization that modern event organizers actually need.

That's how Ticket Spot was born.

What started as a simple app on Wix became a full ticketing system used on Wix, WordPress, and Shopify. It grew quickly because the value was simple: No transaction fees. Full customization. Exceptional support. And a feature set that keeps up with the biggest players in the industry.

Ticket Spot has powered events from small gatherings of a few hundred people to large festivals with over 30,000 attendees. We experienced scaling pains early on, pushed through them, optimized, and built a system that's both fast and resilient.

I've kept the company lean on purpose. I'm a solo founder handling development, product, support, and marketing. This lets me move quickly, keep costs low, and most importantly—let organizers keep more of their earnings. My philosophy is simple: if a feature truly helps organizers run better events, I build it. And I'll always be a partner in their success, not just a vendor.

Ticket Spot exists because of the organizers who shared their frustrations, ideas, and dreams with me. They shaped the product. They guided the roadmap. And their belief in what Ticket Spot could become is the reason it now competes head-to-head with the biggest ticketing platforms out there.

This is just the beginning.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
